Based on my basic face mask tutorial, it’s still a 3-layer mask except these are sized down and “baby” features a slightly different construction! It also uses a very thin undershirt for the “filter” layer and make use of scraps from creating the adult mask! You can also create a lighter mask for baby by omitting the “filter” layer entirely.
These come in 3 sizes- Toddler Large (Wraparound), Toddler Small, and Baby (approx. 1yo). For the two smaller sizes, the middle layer is optional. Make sure to choose 100% Cotton or Baby-Safe Fabrics. Make sure Baby Mask is always worn while supervised.
UPDATE: Toddler Large fits a 4.5 year old. Toddler Small fits a 1 year old. Baby doesn’t fit anyone!

- Do Steps 4-5 but mark 1″ in from Top Left Corner and mark 1/2″ down from Top Right Corner.
- If making both Toddler Large and Toddler Small, just create the Toddler Large Template, trace and cut using same template, then cut Baby fabric in half down vertical center. (photo #7)

Cut and Sew
- Cut and sew as directed for all my other face masks here.
- Leave one side unsewn for opening to turn inside out. (photo)
- Topstitch after turning inside out. (do this for Top and Bottom edges)
- Place hair elastics before sewing side flaps shut. (photo)
- For Toddler Large:
- Use 1/4″ seam allowance for top and bottom edges.
- Use a thin undershirt for the Padding Layer. (make sure grain runs left to right, photo)
- For Toddler Small:
- Use 1/2″ seam allowance for all sewing.
- Sew Outer Layer pieces together along center vertical and press open before beginning. (photo)
- Omit Padding Layer for a lighter-weight, if desired.
- For Baby:
- Use 1/4″ seam allowance for all sewing.
- Omit Padding Layer for a lighter-weight, if desired.
