      Hi Zoey,

Yes! It definitely comes with a pedal. Mine did 🙂 And all modern sewing machines will come with a foot pedal!

I was wondering if you have tried sewing multiple layers of think (upholstery) fabric with this machine? I’d like to be able to work on canvas and denim. Thanks so much!

Hello! Recently I was working on a collar pattern and had to sew through 6+ layers of medium weight (cotton/rayon blend) fabric. It was thick enough that the sewing foot barely lifted high enough for me to pass the fabric through. But once I managed to squeeze it in and lock the foot back down, it sewed fine.

I have also sewed denim on it as seen here in my previous post. But I’m not sure it will handle several layers…

There is a second height for the presser foot that allows it to lift higher but I have not tried it yet. So I’m not quite sure.

It depends on how thick the fabric is but I don’t think it can handle multiple layers of canvas, denim, or upholstery weight though. 🙁 Simply because the presser foot won’t raise high enough. My guess is it can handle at least 2-4 layers heavy weight materials.

How is the automatic buttonholer? Can you share some examples. And is the machine still with you. I know it’s been a few years since you wrote this posting.

    Hi Alice,
Thank you for your detailed review of the Singer 7256. I am wondering if you have used a binding foot attachment. I will appreciate it if you can share what kind you are using.

      Hello Analiza,

I have never tried a binding foot yet. Are you looking to sew face masks? I know these days everyone is sewing face masks and elastic is in short supply so using bias tape is a good alternative. I haven’t had a project yet where I am using binding that needs precision! I usually freehand sew short length piping for craft projects like buntings! But there are many tutorials out there including video ones. I will be practicing soon!

If you need to create bias tape in large quantities, I know many people make use of a bias tape maker. Examples here, on Amazon. They come in different sizes for different widths bias tape. I always choose Clover brand products where possible!

Also, here is an adventurous quilter who shared her technique for sewing yards and yards of bias tape with a standard presser foot! Amazing! https://www.instagram.com/p/B_QEgduHswj/
