Jumbo Tapestry Needle
Needle: US Size 7 [4.50mm] Straight or Circular Needles
Skill Level: Beginner, Advanced Beginner
Finished Measurements: Scarf – 6″ Wide x 42″ Long; Hat- 16″ Wide x 14″ Tall

English Rib Stitch – YO, Slip 1 Stitch Purlwise, K2TOG
Pattern Scarf:
Multiple of 3 sts
Cast On:
Cast on 30 sts using Cable Cast-On. Cast-on loosely.
Rows 1-150: English Rib Stitch all sts until end of row
Bind Off:
Purl purl stitches and yarn overs, knit the knit stitches. Bringing previous stitch over current stitch (on right needle) as usual in standard bind-offs. Cut yarn leaving approx. 6″ tail.
Finishing:
Create tassels. I used a 6″ tassel and 8 tassels per side.
Pattern Hat:
This pattern is knitted flat using a multiple of 3 sts + 1
Cast On:
Cast on 61 sts using Cable Cast On with a Twist by New Stitch A Day
Rows 1-40: English Rib Stitch all sts until 1 stitch remaining. Knit last stitch.
Row 41: Decrease 3 sts using Decrease Stitch roughly every third (20,20,20) but on the stitch right before 20. Or every 5th set of 3 (Sets 6,5,5).
Row 42-47: English Rib Stitch all sts until 1 stitch remaining. Knit last stitch.
Row 48: Decrease Stitch every 4th set of sts until 1 stitch remaining. Knit last stitch.
Row 49: English Rib Stitch all sts until 1 stitch remaining. Knit last stitch.
Row 50-60: Repeat Rows 48-49 until there are 24 sts remaining on needle.
Bind Off:
Purl the purl and yarn-over sts and knit the knit sts to cast off. Leave a long tail, about 12-14″.
Finish and Seaming:
Mattress Stitch seam using tail.
Create 3″ Pom-Pom and attach.
