Pattern: Pussy Hat Project

Pussy Hat ProjectWomens Relaxed Fit

This simple knit hat with kitten ears has become a powerful symbol of the Women’s March, a stand for Women’s reproductive rights, equality, and the human rights of all.

The Pussy Hat Project was a direct protest against the now President and his insulting behavior!

It sent a powerful message without a word, without force, and without hate. It rose above without tearing down.

It served to support by uniting, connecting, and comforting in a very personal, traditionally feminine way.

It used to be in times of conflict, those back at the homefront were encouraged to knit clothing for those on the frontlines as a positive way to contribute.

Today, it is at the forefront of our resistance, the battle cry against all that threatens what is human and decent. Progress. In face of despair.

Perhaps the new symbol of resistance in the modern age. No longer a fist or a weapon, but a cutesy little homespun hat in pink.

It has not won the battle yet but has set the tone for what could be the future. A fitting symbol for what could be the dawn of a new age.

Being female not only has its strengths but is our innate power. Being exactly who each of us are, is what ultimately empowers us all. It is what we should protect.

Perhaps this post can help you make your own hat to pass on!

This pattern is one of the official patterns from the Pussy Hat Project by Destiny Meyer called Super Cat Hat. Here are the yarns, tools, and techniques I used. I have added a few patterns for Mens (slouchy), Baby (toddler), and Toy Breed Dog (tea-cup) hats. Will be adding Dog (medium) soon!
