Bread for Croutons

I’ve been looking for ways to use up Sourdough Discard and not so ideal bread making results! Here is one that is super easy but may take some labor!

Ingredients
Any old bread

Method
Preheat oven to 350f.

For Croutons

Slice bread into half-inch cubes or desired size. I used the “bread ends” for croutons. Toast for 20-30mins or until browned. Store in airtight container.

For Breadcrumbs
If using a box grater: Slice bread in half-inch thick slices.

If using a food processor: Cube bread into half-inch thick cubes.

Place in a single layer on large baking sheet. Toast for 20-30mins to dry out bread.

Grate or process.

Here are the toasted “crumbs”! I was able to turn my bread into wonderful (if not better) croutons or breadcrumbs!

Uses these in anything from Thanksgiving Stuffing to anything that needs breading like Chicken Parmagiana, Katsu, Schnitzel to Fried Chicken, Mozzarella Sticks to Meatballs and Meatloaf etc.
